The Coca Cola Football League Championship is in fact the second league within the English football league system, indeed prior to 1994 it was known as league 2, league division 1 was renamed to the Premier League. Coca Cola started their sponsorship in 2004 and have recently signed a deal continuing until 2010.
The championship consists of 24 teams and odds on who will gain promotion to the premiership are widely available, obviously better odds are available at the start of the season before the form of the teams becomes apparent. The top two teams earn automatic promotion, the next 4 play a series of “Play Offs” culminating in the Play Off finals held in Wembley Stadium.
